W.I.N.G.S. Homes, Inc. partners with families who have demonstrated commitment in keeping their homes clean and orderly, who need help, and who are willing to contribute toward home ownership. W.I.N.G.S. works with Churches and other 501(c)(3) organizations for deserving individuals/families’ referrals, as well as finding suitable property, volunteer labor (skilled and non-skilled) plus emotional and spiritual support.

Preliminary qualifications:

Deserving: W.I.N.G.S. partners with deserving individuals/families who want to take the next step toward home ownership, including:

  • Low-income and very-low income individuals and families
  • Individuals or families recovering from bad choices or unfortunate circumstances but who have demonstrated consistent progress in the right direction.
  • Veterans who have honorably served our country, making progress in returning to civilian life but find it difficult to secure a permanent home.
  • Veteran or first responder surviving spouse with children.
  • Survivors of natural disasters without sufficient insurance to rebuild.
  • Families with vulnerable children who have special considerations.
  • Single parent households
  • Senior citizens with special circumstances.
  • Functioning adults with special needs

Contributing: Approved applicants must contribute “sweat equity” and have a community willing to do the same. Each approved applicant must contribute to their home ownership goal with work, training, and commitment.

Community: Approved applicants must commit to be a part of their community. One way is helping other W.I.N.G.S. Homes families as they build their home, another is keeping their home and yard in good repair and presentation, so their home contributes to the beauty, warmness, and welcoming atmosphere of the community.

Cost: W.I.N.G.S. provides its ICF homes to applicants at no-profit to the organization. W.I.N.G.S. accomplishes this by either offering financing at an affordable zero-percent interest loan for the cost of the home, or by working with applicants to apply for financial assistance available through government programs or a private third-party mortgage depending upon the specific circumstances of each applicant. Generally, successful applicants should have income sources sufficient to cover their mortgage payments which should not exceed 30% of their normal household expenses.

Education: As a faith-based charitable organization, W.I.N.G.S. Homes requires each approved applicant to participate in training such as financial planning, home ownership responsibilities, and Biblical study. The objective is not “getting a house”, but “successful home ownership,” which requires a successful lifestyle and planning.

A non-profit corporation providing a leg-up to deserving families in need

The housing market has an obvious gap and lacks affordable home options that are built to last. Lower-income families, single parents, veterans, victims of natural disasters, senior citizens, and other vulnerable populations have historically been, often ending up in inefficient and poorly built homes which costs more to maintain and repair.
