Come partner with W.I.N.G.S. Homes, Inc. on one or more of the exciting projects below.  Together we can make a difference in the lives of deserving families locally and those faced with natural disaster destruction.  Your gift is designated for the project you choose.  Let’s join together in providing attainable housing for deserving families.

Disaster Relief Project

A primary W.I.N.G.S. objective is providing home “kits” to disaster areas (hurricane, tornado, earthquake, or personal disaster). These permanent storm resilient homes can be delivered via a container or flat-bed truck, constructed in weeks, returning people to their community as soon as possible. These Kits will be pre-engineered and designed 2 or 3 bedrooms home ready for quick construction. Using volunteers and qualified W.I.N.G.S. team members, communities can be restored and lives restored to productivity.

Prototype Model Project

The initial projects serve as prototype projects where home building serves to define the processes and procedures necessary for the containerization process. These homes will be built as models that are built for deserving families. These prototype projects will occur in Bowling Green, Nicholasville and Shelby County and Jefferson County Kentucky.

Church Partnership Project

In partnership with Christian churches, we identify deserving and qualifying families that the church wishes to help. The church provides land and support, and our team provides the guidance and expertise to build the home. Much of the material will be donated or provided at a reduced cost. Volunteer labor managed by our team, combine to finish the house with the deserving family providing sweat equity. The result is a low mortgage home for a deserving family – a fresh start. There are rules and guidelines to ensure success both in the building process and in preserving long term value for the family.
Our mutual goal is a low-cost, storm resilient, low energy consumption home. We supply the plans, process, materials and oversight, the church provides the qualified family, volunteer labor and the land. The result is a work of love and a “leg up” for someone that has earned the opportunity.

Sponsor a Home Project

Deserving and qualifying families are identified who need a helping hand. Veterans or military / first responders surviving spouses with children are two examples. A sponsoring entity solicits tax deductible funding, and our team provides the guidance and expertise to build the home. Volunteer labor is trained and managed by our team, resulting in a finished house with the deserving family or the sponsoring entity providing sweat equity. The result is a no or low mortgage home for a deserving family – a fresh start. There are rules and guidelines to ensure success both in the building process and in preserving long term value for the family.
The mutual goal is a low-cost, storm resilient, low maintenance and low energy consumption home. The result is a work of love and a “leg up” for someone that has earned the opportunity.

Retired Builder Project

Retired builders who wish to continue earning a living in home building but at a slower pace and who want to make a difference in their community can participate in the Retired Builder Project. The builder purchases a home kit from W.I.N.G.S. Homes, constructs a new home in a few weeks, sells to a deserving family at a reduced cost, then begins again when the builder is ready. Advantages include” 1) continued income; 2) staying active; 3) less stress, building for a reason 4) giving back to your community; 5) making a difference in a deserving family’s life.

WINGS Community Neighborhood

WINGS Community Neighborhood (WCN) is a broad vision for an inclusive development where various groups experience a Christ freeing lifestyle, encouraged by spiritual mentors and Christ-centered support groups. WCN is a uniquely designed large mixed-use development for people who have demonstrated the desire, determination, and ability for a better life, specifically the privilege of home ownership. The WCN offers support, encouragement, and accountability.

The WCN has specific dormitory space set aside for those recovering from personal challenges such as incarceration, addiction, abuse, and other personal challenges, where a structured community environment is needed and where community is separate from distractions and temptations.

As participants advance, they begin contributing to the community. Each person will be assigned work in food service, grounds maintenance, building maintenance where they will learn a valuable trade which will help restore them productively into the workforce followed by opportunity for private home ownership in the private home neighborhood.

The WCN provides community for Christian based discipleship organizations and training environments who desire a deeper walk with Christ enhanced by the opportunity to study, serve and encourage others in the WCN, national outreach and international outreach. Part of the discipleship program will strengthen those facing personal challenges.

The private home neighborhood section is a unique design, houses have large front porches, an inviting community with wide sidewalks, green grass and lots of trees, reminiscence of earlier community centered times. A large common green area for children to play, for ballgame or flying kits with a covered gazebo and small community center for education classes, Bible studies or exercise classes. The entire property is fence enclosed for protection and security, both from wondering people, animals, and other intrusions.

There is great expectation and accountability for those living in the WCN. Residents must attend classes on home ownership, budgeting, financial planning, spiritual growth, and community involvement. They must have a positive tract record for employment, sobriety and cleanness plus giving back to their community. To whom much is given, much is expected. Only a few deserving persons will qualify to participate in the WCN.

The main entrance circles up to the community center for drop off and delivery with parking spaces for guests. The resident drive is around the outside of the property with vehicle parking behind the houses, either with garages or paved parking spaces. This approach permits a nice walking trail for adults or bicycle paths for energetic youngsters. Green space in front of the houses offer safe areas for children to play, gym sets and a quiet place for neighbors to sit and talk, providing a real sense of community.

The property will be tree filled offering an extremely healthy, quiet, and safe environment for the neighborhood families, plus providing a natural community remedy for climate change.

W.I.N.G.S. homes are built with Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) providing storm safe, resilient, low/no energy, healthier, environmentally friendly, low maintenance homes. These homes can withstand 250+ mile-per-hour tornado winds so they never have to be rebuilt again, providing a storm-safe home with an enclosed safe-room included.

ICF construction offers excellent insulation value resulting in lower energy usage and a more comfortable home. Because the walls are solid, there are no thermal breaks that reduce the overall insulation capability. This translates into quiet and comfort with lower energy usage, a plus for our veteran residents.

A W.I.N.G.S. home will use much less energy than even high quality, conventionally constructed house. A Louisville KY constructed 5,500 square foot ICF home uses just $460 of electricity in an entire year! This is an unheard-of accomplishment. Many of the same techniques used in this prototype home are applied in a W.I.N.G.S. home.

While the concrete filled exterior walls offer superior weather protection, each home is equipped with a “safe” room offering superior protection should a tornado or severe winds sweep across the area. A place for your complete safety regardless of the situation.

Homes are provided on a rent to own arrangement set by the oversight committee, ensuring occupants continue meeting the high standards required to be a part of the WCN. Some monthly payments may be offset by occupant’s contribution to community maintenance and upkeep.
Help us fulfil the WINGS Community Neighborhood dream.
